The Clairemont Town Council’s purpose is to promote the civic, commercial, educational and cultural activities, as well as the general welfare of the community of Clairemont. The objectives of the Council are to provide a forum for discussion of community issues, take a stand on community issues as authorized by the membership, communicate community views to the appropriate organizations, and sponsor programs that benefit Clairemont. Our board members represent a broad cross section of Clairemont who are all volunteers committed to keeping Clairemont great. Come join us on the first Thursday of every month from 7-9 p.m. to learn more about Clairemont and events that shape our community and our lives. Our meetings are held in the Clairemont High School Cafeteria, 4150 Ute St, San Diego, CA 92117. Near the South West corner of Clairemont Dr. & Balboa Ave.The Council is organized as a non-profit social welfare organization with tax-exempt status, as classified by the Internal Revenue Service in accordance with the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(4)
2012 Board MembersPresident - Ryan TrabucoRyan Trabuco joined the Clairemont Town Council in 2010. Born and raised in Texas, he moved to California in 2004, and has lived in the San Diego area since 2007. He has dedicated countless hours to public and community service during that time. Since 2009, he has served on the County’s Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board where he provides oversight of the County’s treatment and rehabilitation programs, and helps advise the Board of Supervisors on alcohol and drug prevention policy. In 2011, he was appointed to serve on the San Diego County Juvenile Justice Commission, where he provides oversight on the administration and maintenance of facilities within the county’s juvenile court system. During the day, he works as the Social Media Coordinator for Evans Hotels, and also serves on the Board of Directors for several non-profit, community advocacy organizations.
Dave VitaleDavid Vitale was born in Boston Massachusetts and went to school in New Hampshire. He has lived in San Diego since 1999 and has owned a home in Clairemont since 2002. David has been involved in Real Estate and Finance since 1996, owning two separate companies. Currently David is concentrating on Bank Owned and Short Sale properties in San Diego working with Battiata Real Estate Group and being the broker of record for Short Sale San Diego. David started attending Clairemont Town Council meetings in 2010 and wanted to become more involved. At the behest of Ryan Trabuco, he was persuaded to step in and fill the Vice President role on the board. Besides local community events, David is an avid fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, Celtics and Red Sox. Richard MorrisSo you know a little about me, I was raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana and went to Indiana University. I graduated with a B.A. in psychology and sociology, and took off for San Diego, California! I’ve been in San Diego for 33 years, mostly in the trucking and moving industry, and 8 years in the telecommunication industry. This is my 7th year in real estate, and have been with Century21-1st Choice since 2005. I specialize in Clairemont and Bay Park, and particularly enjoy working with view properties. My other passion is collecting and dealing with The Beatles!
Marne TateMarne has resided in San Diego County since 1996 and lived in Clairemont for the last 8 years. She has a teenage son who attends Clairemont High School and a toddler son who keeps her on the run. Active in her community, Marne has previously served as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Ramona Soccer League. She has also participated in canyon clean up days through Volunteer San Diego, as well as walked in the Clairemont Relay for Life, Susan G. Komen 3-Day For the Cure, JDRF Walk, and the MS Walk, just to name a few and has supported the San Diego Blood Bank through blood donations. Marne has worked in the semiconductor component industry as a sales person for the past 13 years. Troy TerpeningTroy Terpening is a native San Diegan who lives in the Clairemont area with his wife, Ingrid and two children, Gavin and Victoria. He is a graduate of San Diego State University and California Western School of Law. Troy has a very broad legal background and has worked in-house for both venture capital and large financial institutions. Troy currently runs a general law practice though most of his work involves the representation of plaintiffs in complex securities, corporate governance and antitrust litigation. He is passionate about education and has taught numerous courses at the community college and law school levels. Through his involvement with the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, Troy helps train elementary school students in mediation techniques so they may help resolve disputes within their respective schools. He loves to spend time with his family, mountain bike, snowboard, practice martial arts and stay active. Daniel J. SmiechowskiDaniel J. Smiechowski has been a Clairemont Resident since 1967. He is a graduate of Clairemont High School, San Diego Mesa College, San Diego State University, United States International University and The Sorbonne in Paris, France. He is fluent in French and has degrees in French/Linguistics, Sociology and Real Estate. Daniel has been licensed in real estate since 1975 and currently works for Klatt Realty in La Jolla. He also is partners in a local transportation company and is a former public school teacher. Daniel has competed in over 100 triathlons worldwide including Europe, Africa, Hawaii and the continental United States. He has traveled abroad 23 times. Daniel was elected to The Clairemont Planning Committee in 1991 and The Democratic Central Committee in 2008. He also is a National Columnist for AmericanChronical.com and has interviewed notables and political leaders throughout the world.
Arnie GarciaArnie García is a newly sworn-in Director-at-Large for the Clairemont Town Council. Arnie has been a resident of Bay Park for more than 20 years. He previously was an active member of the San Diego Junior Chamber of Commerce serving as vice-president for Community Service as well as Member Development. Arnie has also served as an elected Alumni Board Member for the University of San Diego serving as homecoming chair in 2006. He currently, works for a major energy service provider in San Diego in the areas of market segment research, energy effficiency and outreach. In his spare time, Arnie enjoys spending time with his wife, Kristina and two children, Olivia (4) and Owen (2) as well as contributing to the community through his involvement in the Town Council. |
