President’s Message
I
think I am in a state of overwhelm. So much going on! Our general meeting last
month was such a success - so many people told me how interesting they found Dan
McAllister, our county tax collector/investor, as well as our speaker for ITN
San Diego. Not only was he interesting, but also to the point, leaving
plenty of time for your many questions. We were also privileged to meet the new
commanding officer for the San Diego Police Department Northern Division,
Captain Shelley Zimmerman, whose first beat when starting as a police officer 25
years ago was in Clairemont.
Next
on your Town Council’s busy agenda is our participation with the Clairemont
Kiwanis, North Island Credit Union, Chamber of Commerce, Judy Bramer, Realtor,
KCO Construction and Clairemont Community News in our Clairemont Cleanup. If you
would like to contribute some time Saturday morning April 19th,
come join us at 9:00 am at the Horizon Christian Fellowship at 5331 Mt. Alifan
to get your assignment.
Our
Clairemont Garden Tour this year cannot help but be fantastic. Again, we have
found new hidden treasures in Clairemont; actually I am quite overwhelmed by
what we have found this year! Hope you have marked Saturday, May 3rd
on your calendar. Purchase your tickets at the UPS store at Clairemont
Town Square, in advance for $12.00, or on the day of the event for $15.00.
It has been so fun this past month to visit Clairemont homes to choose gardens
for our tour. We had a great response to our request, and are so thankful
to all who invited us to see their yards. It is heartwarming that so many
Clairemont residents put such effort in and take such pride in their gardens.
I
am excited about our April meeting! Not wanting to overwhelm you with
serious subjects each month, I thought it would be interesting to balance things
out with something different. Since learning some fascinating bits of San Diego
history on NBC channel 7/39’s Ken Kramer’s “About San Diego”, I
thought it would be fun to feature him as a speaker. Come join us and learn
something new about the community you call home. There will be plenty of
time for questions and comments.
Don’t
know about you, but I’m very happy to call Clairemont my home, I sure hope to
see you at some of our events!
